This program is free to Shelby County Businesses. You pay NOTHING. The check writer pays for the entire cost of the program.

Eligible:

• Check was received in Shelby County, deposited in a bank in exchange for goods or services and presumed "good" at the time of acceptance.
• Check is submitted to the Check Theft Program within 180 days from the date on the check.

Ineligible:

• Check is postdated.
• Both parties knew there were insufficient funds at the time of the transaction.
• Check is a 2-party, government or payroll check.
• The identity of the check writer is unknown.
• There is no amount or signature on the check.
• Some "stop payment" orders on the check will be subject to review.
